Inspirational Artist Profile: Brad Spencer

This month Brad Spencer is grabbing {*Conditions Apply}'s attention with his figurative sculptures that he has worked on around his local area in the streets of North Carolina. He uses a relief technique where he first uses unfired clay to carve the figures, then proceeds to fire the pieces and assemble the bricks on top. We look forward to seeing more of his work during 2017.

Cité de la mode et du design: Wall on Fire exhibition

Following our keen interest for street art around our local area in Shoreditch, we have decided to broaden our horizons and explore street art around the world. We recently visited Cité de la Mode et Design in Paris where they are holding an exhibition on street artists from various areas of France and England.   

The Wall on Fire exhibition entails of 6 street artists from Lyon, Bordeaux, London and Paris. Each artist has a different style of work from futuristic scenery to abstract nature imagery whilst having the common theme of using street walls as their canvas. Below are the works of 2 artists that particularly caught our eye, Rooble and Odeg from Bordeaux. Whilst Rooble's photorealism style is gentle and soothing, Odeg's lines and structures are quite graphicaly striking.

The building itself, Cité de la Mode et Design, designed by architects Jacob + MacFarlane, has very intriguing structured stairways that drop over the river seine. We enjoyed discovering this new, modern building that was introduced to Paris only 6 years ago.

A few other artists that can be found at the exhibition are Kalouf, Sair, Fanakapan, Vinie, Dams-Odv, Spe and Kashink. We look forward to exploring different parts of the world for more street artists and discovering different street art styles during the near future. 

Inspirational Artist Profile: Danielle Clough

Photographer-designer-vj-embroiderer, Danielle Clough or better known as 'Dee' has caught the eye of Conditions Apply with her unique embroidery.

Dabbling in many artistic avenues Dee's works has been profiled by Instagram, Colossal, CNN, Vogue.com. and Creative Boom amongst others and Published by the likes of the New York Times Magazine, and London's The Evening Standard.

Her immaculate embroidery upon unconventional items holds a refreshing take on the traditional craft. Beautifully appealing to the eye, we admire Dee's rare and refreshing point of view.

Inspirational Artist Profile: Lionel Smit

Lionel Smit, artist and sculptor from Pretoria, South Africa. 
Inspires us with his thought provoking works and mesmerising portraits. Smit represented by Rook & Raven UK has made vast achievements with his artistry having shown in the London National Portrait Gallery, selected as featured artist in several art fairs across Amsterdam, Germany, India, Miami, Monaco, London and Hong Kong as well as receiving a Ministerial Award from the South African Department of Culture, Smit has certainly earned his place amongst renowned artists of today.
